Survey Shows: Clinton Voters Go For McCain

Filed under: Clinton, Gallup, McCain, Obama, Super Delegates — oldelephant @ 6:23 pm

“Obama has made the claim that he can capture Clinton’s voters more easily in the general election than she can capture his. I doubt it.”Old Elephant Blog, Feb. 11, 2008

I love it when I’m right.

A new poll from the Gallup organization says 28% of those supporting Hillary Clinton will switch to John McCain if Barrack Obama is handed the nomination. A second-day examination of the survey provides further insights.

Obama fails his own test.

Filed under: Clinton, Democrats, Jeremiah Wright, McCain, Obama, Rezko — oldelephant @ 9:07 pm

Barack Obama and his campaign have worked tirelessly to make this election a referendum on personality, rather than on issues.

Not wanting the election to turn on whether or not Americans want the most liberal senator in the nation to lead their country, they have asked the nation to focus on his foresight and judgment. We are told that Obama should be elected President, despite a lack of experience or substantial accomplishment, because what really matters is judgment.

The Democrat Suicide Pact

Filed under: Clinton, Democrats, Internet, McCain, Obama, Republicans, Uncategorized — oldelephant @ 6:25 pm

Okay, I know that looking for any rational, reasoned exchange of ideas on the Internet is pretty much futile.

Still, lately I’ve been finding the polarized comments between Obama and Clinton supporters a little stunning.

Getting in Touch with their Feminine Side

Filed under: Clinton, Democrats, McCain, Obama, Republicans — oldelephant @ 4:13 pm

Having attempted to raise three daughters, I’m familiar with the concept of feminine and masculine traits or values.

Competitiveness…defeating your opponents…killing the most vampires in the video game…those are supposed to be masculine traits. Making others feel valued…playing fair…taking turns…those are supposed to be feminine traits.

Clinton Regains Momentum

Filed under: Clinton, Democrats, McCain — oldelephant @ 11:00 pm

It’s about 11 p.m. here in Illinois – it looks like the stories from tonight’s caucuses will be:  McCain clinches nomination and Clinton stays alive.Actually, I think it ought to be – Clinton gains the momentum – but, given the media’s massive man-crush on Obama, I think they’ll minimize her victories, just as they did on Super Tuesday I.

The Real Candidate of Hope

Filed under: Clinton, McCain, Obama — oldelephant @ 10:06 pm

“I will leave it to my opponent to argue that we should abrogate trade treaties, and pretend the global economy will go away and Americans can secure our future by trading and investing only among ourselves. We will campaign in favor of seizing the opportunities presented by the growth of free markets throughout the world, helping displaced workers acquire new and lasting employment and educating our children to prepare them for the new economic realities by giving parents choices about their children’s education they do not have now.” – John McCain, Victory Speech March 4, 2008 in Dallas TX.

Another Obama Fairy Tale

Filed under: Democrats, McCain, Obama — oldelephant @ 9:21 am

One of the “Fairy Tales” the Obama campaign tells is that the candidate is a post-partisan leader who has a record of working across party lines to move legislation forward. Finally, some in the media are starting to ask for examples. There aren’t many.

A story posted on RealClearPolitics takes a look at Obama’s “bipartisanship” and comes up with basically nothing.  One of the more interesting excerpts quotes an unnamed Senator as saying “If his voting record in the past is the real Barack Obama, then there isn’t going to be any bipartisanship.”

Buyer’s Remorse Could Hit Democrats

Filed under: Clinton, Democrats, McCain, Obama, Taxes — oldelephant @ 11:00 pm

I believe if Democrats nominate Barack Obama they may soon be having buyer’s remorse.
The heavily “blue” tinge of the front-loaded primaries of 2008 did two things. First, it gave Republicans a candidate who can appeal to moderates and independents. Second, it turned the Democrat contest into a race to the left.
